Leftist Rep. Jayapal Ripped for Saying Migrants ‘Needed’ to ‘Pick the Food We Eat’, ‘Clean Our Homes’

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., is under fire following pro-immigration remarks during a Tuesday House Judiciary Committee “markup” on the Border Security and Enforcement Act of 2023, in which she said immigrants are needed to “pick the food we eat” and “clean our homes.”

“This country needs immigrants to survive,” she said. “Immigrants pick the food we eat, rebuild our communities after climate disasters, help construct our infrastructure, power our small business economy, clean our homes, and look after the most precious in our families — our children and our elders.”

“They strengthen our economy, our food supply chain and our ability to complete,” the leftist lawmaker continued.

Jayapal’s racially loaded remarks prompted conservative voices to share their thoughts on Twitter.

“Democrats want this historic border invasion to continue so that they have folks to pick the food they eat and clean their homes,” Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., said. “Appalling.”

“Jayapal using the tired old, ‘Who will clean our homes?’ defense on illegal immigration,” conservative organization FreedomWorks tweeted. “Limousine liberalism at its finest! #ampFW.”

“WOW! Just wow!” said Twitter user @lonestarherd.

“Racist Democrat Jayapal defending mass illegal immigration of Biden admin,” said Twitter user @ps1ack.

Jayapal’s comments came a day after Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was ripped by Senate Republicans over his neglect of border security.

“You’re failing miserably,” Senator Ron Johnson, R-Wis., told Mayorkas in a heated exchange. “Four to five million people […] unknown gotaways. We have no idea who those people are. What kind of security do they risk. You’re not giving me any stats whatsoever in terms of the number of people that are human-trafficked. How many young girls are sex trafficked.”

The lawmaker’s remarks wouldn’t make the first time she found herself under fire for her comments. In January 2023, Jayapal’s apparent double standard was exposed after she called for former President Donald J. Trump to be “held accountable to the full extent of the law” over the Republican’s alleged mishandling of classified documents. Jayapal, however, rushed to defend President Biden for a seemly equal violation of the law. “There are clear differences […],” claimed the lawmaker in an interview with regime collaborator CNN.

Jayapal has voiced fierce support for lax immigration policies. The congresswoman’s press team has ignored the backlash, opting instead to call on Congress to pass the leftist Fairness to Freedom Act to “ensure all immigrants have representation.”
