Illegal Aliens Cost Taxpayers Billions in Medical Bills, Damning Report Exposes

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) A bombshell report has shed light on the staggering financial burden inflicted on American taxpayers by illegal aliens, attributed to President Joe Biden’s open-border policies and Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

The report, released by the Republican-led House Committee on Homeland Security, exposed the significant costs incurred by both federal and state governments due to the unprecedented surge in illegal immigration.

“Hospital and emergency room care for illegal aliens is one of the most significant expenses,” the scathing report highlighted. “Illegal aliens, most of whom have no form of health insurance, often rely on emergency rooms and services as a source of free or cheap health care. Consequently, this has led to significant costs for hospitals because providers are often not reimbursed for these services.”

According to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, the state alone faces a burden of approximately $62 and $90 million annually for unpaid emergency room visits. The report further disclosed that Texas state hospitals incurred uncompensated costs ranging from $597 million to $717 million between 2006 and 2008.

The financial impact extends beyond Texas, as evidenced by Florida’s hospitals facing costs of $312 million, with only $103 million in reimbursements.

Illinois has also encountered substantial challenges, with a state program providing health benefits to undocumented adults exceeding initial estimates by a wide margin. Officials now estimate a need for over $1.1 billion to sustain the program due to unexpectedly high usage.

Local governments have been severely impacted by the Biden administration’s border crisis. The report highlighted the case of Yuma County, Arizona, where Sheriff Leon Wilmot testified that the county spent $70,000 on portable toilets to prevent illegal aliens from contaminating agricultural fields with human waste.

Yuma County plays a critical role in supplying nearly 90 percent of the nation’s leafy greens during winter, emphasizing the national significance of crop preservation and sanitation.

Similarly, Kinney County, Texas, has suffered significant damage to farms and ranches due to the influx of illegal aliens, resulting in torn fences, damaged houses, and substantial amounts of left-behind trash. Repair costs alone have reached $30,000 for the county.

Homeland Committee Chairman Mark Green, R-Tenn., torched the Biden administration’s open border policies in a press release announcing the report, stating, “In just over two years of Secretary Mayorkas’ leadership, the number of encounters at our Southwest border has doubled compared to the previous administration. More than 1.5 million known gotaways have entered our country. The drug cartels control our Southwest border and are flooding our communities with fentanyl.”

Green added, “[T]he American people have been forced to face the devastating costs of his failure.”
