Hunter Biden Still Listed as Owner of Chinese Firm He Promised to Cut Ties With

(Headline USA) Hunter Biden is still listed as an owner of a Chinese investment firm linked to the Chinese Communist Party, despite his lawyer’s claim that he had divested all interests from the venture.

Chinese and American business records show Hunter Biden still owns 10% of BHR Partners, according to the Washington Examiner. Both China’s National Credit Information Publicity System and Washington, D.C., business records list Hunter Biden as one of BHR Partner’s owners through his firm Skaneateles LLC.

Washington, D.C., business records confirm that Hunter Biden is still the only beneficial owner of Skaneateles. And the Washington, D.C., of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs confirmed that Skaneateles has not updated any of its filings since Oct. 20, when a two-year report listed Hunter Biden as the sole “governor” of the company.

However, in November, one of Hunter Biden’s lawyers insisted that he “no longer holds any interest, directly or indirectly, in either BHR or Skaneateles,” said Chris Clark.

BHR is co-owned by the Bank of China. It reportedly manages around $2.4 billion, according to its website, and has invested in several companies controlled by the CCP, including Megvii, which was slapped with sanctions by the U.S. government in 2019 for allegedly participating in China’s oppression of Uyghur Muslims.

BHR also invested in the China General Nuclear Power Group, a state-owned company that was also blacklisted by the U.S. in 2019 for trying to steal U.S. nuclear technology.

Before President Joe Biden took office, he promised that no one in his family would have any business relationships with foreign corporations or countries. Since then, the White House has continued to downplay Hunter Biden’s shady business deals.

Last July, for example, White House press secretary Jen Psaki insisted Hunter Biden was doing his best to “unload” all his Chinese investments.

“But I would certainly point you—he’s a private citizen,” she said at the time. “I would point you to him or his lawyers on the outside on any update.”

In December, when asked again about why Hunter Biden was still involved with BHR, Psaki downplayed the significance of his investments.

“On the first, the president’s son is not an employee of the federal government, so I’d point you to his representatives,” Psaki said.

“I think I answered your question. You can go to the representative of the person who is not an employee of the federal government.”
