House Homeland Security Chair Says He Has Evidence of Mayorkas’s ‘Potential Fraud’

(Corine GattiHeadline USA) House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green revealed that he has evidence of “potential fraud” committed by embattled Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, the Daily Caller reported

Although Green, R-Tenn., did not disclose further details, he explained that confidential sources shared information with him that showed Mayorkas may have committed fraud that could be grounds for impeachment. Green said that several House Republicans, including Pat Fallon of Texas and Andy Biggs of Arizona have already filed articles of impeachment against Mayorkas.

Mayorkas was criticized for his handling of the border crisis and for not enforcing immigration laws on the books. This new accusation of potential fraud only adds to the scrutiny surrounding Mayorkas and the DHS.

The current situation at the southern border of the United States has reached a fever pitch, with the lifting of Title 42 – the Trump-era expulsion order. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials have already encountered more than 1.2 million migrants at the southern border in the current fiscal year 2023.

“He doesn’t get to make the laws, we do,” Green told the news outlet regarding Mayorkas. “And if he can’t enforce and live by the Constitution of the United States, why is he a cabinet secretary?”

In a recent statement to the Daily Caller, a DHS spokesperson defended the department against Green’s threats and said it will continue to implement laws, secure the border and noted that Congress should “work with the department and pass legislation to fix our broken immigration system, which has not been updated in over 40 years.”

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy had yet to take action against Mayorkas, despite growing concerns about his leadership and actions.

“I’m quite alright owning that responsibility and doing it,” he said, adding “my gut tells me it’s gonna be enough for him to not be in the job.”
