(Ezekiel Loseke, Headline USA) Actress Anne Hathaway cited the Biden administration’s self-inflicted baby-formula shortage as a justification for abortion during an interview with fellow celebrities.
As part of a recent feature in Interview magazine, Hathaway was asked by her Princess Diaries co-star Julie Andrews, “What really ticks you off?” according to the Gateway Pundit.
“Currently, what makes me really angry is that I can look at a newspaper and on the front page, see that there are plans in place to overturn Roe v. Wade next to an article about how there’s a baby formula shortage, which has reduced the availability of baby formula by 43 percent,” Hathaway said, implying that the surplus population of infants was contributing to the issue.
The shortage is largely the result of a plant closure at the Abbott Nutrition plant in Sturgis, Mich., which the Food and Drug Administration mandated in February. After the crisis reached the top levels of the White House, President Joe Biden claimed nobody had anticipated it. However, he contradicted that by claiming his staff had been working for weeks to address it.
Hathaway’s statements came in advance of Friday’s widely anticipated Supreme Court decision in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, which determined that there was no implied federal right to abortion in the Constitution, effectively overturning the Roe verdict.
The Les Miserables actress went on to claim that an influx of new births would further exacerbate the food shortages, likely turning America into a Swiftian hellscape.
“[T]he people that are cheering for the overturning of Roe v. Wade will not have a conversation about that point in the future when those two stories intersect,” she said.
“And the people who have been working so hard to overturn Roe v. Wade have done so without making any effort at creating a more fair, just, and equitable society, and affordable, by the way, in which to have children,” she complained.
In her moralizing rant, Hathaway did not mention the injustice of killing an innocent person in the womb. Nor did she mention that the baby-formula shortage coincides with the failing economy of a “Catholic” president who wishes to maintain Roe v. Wade.
This is not Hathaway’s first lukewarm take on abortion.
In 2019, she posted on Instagram post to inform those opposed to abortion that “Yes the anti-abortion movement is primarily about controlling women’s bodies under the premise (for many, sincere) of saving lives.”
Hathaway insisted that targeting men of the pro-life movement was not enough. She emphasized that her anti-life peers should “call out the complicity of the white women who made this awful moment possible.”
Hathaway has not been ridiculed for her outlandish remarks; quite the contrary. According to Yahoo News, Hathaway was named a UN Women goodwill ambassador.
In the wake of the court’s Dobbs decision, activist organizations like the domestic terrorism group Jane’s Revenge are expected to continue their reign of terror firebombing churches and pro-life centers as part of a planned “Night of Rage.”
It was not immediately clear whether Hathaway had condemned the violence.
