Graham Claims Trump is ‘Hurting’ 2024 Chances by Talking About Stolen Election

'If he continues to talk about the 2020 election, I think it hurts his cause and quite frankly, hurts the Republican Party... '

(Headline USA) Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., claimed former President Donald Trump has a “great” chance at winning the White House again in 2024 but said he is “hurting” his chances by talking about the 2020 presidential election.

Asked during an interview with ABC whether he would support a Trump comeback in 2024, Graham said the Republican nomination is his “for the taking.” However, Trump needs to stop looking “backward,” Graham said.

“Donald Trump is the most consequential Republican in the Republican Party today. He has a great chance of being president again in 2024, if he’ll start comparing what he did as president versus what’s going on now, and how to fix the mess we’re in,” he said.

“If he looks backward, I think he’s hurting his chances.”

Trump will “hurt his cause” and the GOP overall if he “continues to talk about the 2020 election,” Graham continued.

“I do believe that if he talked about what he’s capable of doing and remind people what he did in the past, he has a chance to come back,” Graham said. “If he continues to talk about the 2020 election, I think it hurts his cause and quite frankly, hurts the Republican Party.”

Trump has been teasing another presidential campaign for the past several months, but has said he won’t formally launch it until after the 2022 midterms. Several of his top advisers have confirmed he plans to run, including Jason Miller and former chief of staff Mark Meadows.

“I think ultimately in 2024 President Trump does run again. At least that is my hope,” Miller said.

“But I don’t think it will be against Joe Biden. I think it will be a [Vice President] Kamala Harris or maybe a [California Governor] Gavin Newsom,” Miller predicted last year.

Meadows agreed: “If I were a betting man, I would tell you to loan me all your money. I would put all my money in, and I would bet that [Trump] is running again. He’s in, and we will count on him running.”
