GOP Gov. Slams Woke Ideology That Could ‘Change the Makeup of America’

'The Democratic National Committee has moved so far to the left that I heard they were going to move their national headquarters to somewhere in the middle of the Pacific Ocean...'

(Abdul–Rahman Oladimeji Bello, Headline USA) Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves recently slammed Democrats for relentlessly pushing several leftist ideologies, despite them making “absolutely no sense.”

Encouraging gender reassignment surgeries for kids and allowing biological men in female sports were some of the leftists woke ideologies from which Reeves swore to “protect” Mississippians, Fox News reported.

“This gender reassignment surgery is the latest push from the far left to change the makeup of America,” he said. “It makes absolutely no sense to the average American and certainly doesn’t make any sense to the average Mississippian.”

The Republican governor added that woke Democrats, with the federal government’s support, have moved to the extreme fringes on many issues.

“I’ve been known to say that the Democratic National Committee has moved so far to the left that I heard they were going to move their national headquarters to somewhere in the middle of the Pacific Ocean,” Reeves said.

In his time as Mississippi’s governor, Reeves, who is running for re-election, has signed several laws protecting Mississippians from far-left cultural ideologies.

He signed a law prohibiting biological males identifying as females from competing in the female sports scene.

Reeves also signed a law in March prohibiting doctors from conducting transgender surgeries and prescribing puberty blockers to anyone in the state under the age of 18.

Recently, he also signed bills to limit the exposure of minors to sexually explicit content.

“Why on Earth is this so important to the far left that they want to literally mutilate our children?” he asked.

“Why is it so important that they have the opportunity, and are pushing, for our children being able to see pornographic material?” he continued. “Why? What makes them think the way they think?”

The Republican governor, a father to three daughters, explained that he does not understand why anyone would push for such ideologies.

“As a dad, it just is beyond my ability to comprehend why the norm in the other political party is to push men into girls’ sports,” he said. “In Mississippi, we have a law now, and we’ve decided that we’re going to let girls play girls’ sports. And we’re going to let boys play boys’ sports.”
