Gay, Jewish Leftist AG to Skip Dem Convention Over Party’s ‘Antisemitism’

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) The Michigan Democratic Party is expected to draw major figures to its August nomination convention, but one high-profile Democrat will not be attending: Dana Nessel, the state’s current gay, Jewish attorney general.

Nessel, a left-wing prosecutor, said at a roundtable on Thursday that she will skip the convention because of her party’s growing embrace of antisemitism.

“I feel like my presence isn’t going to be welcome,” Nessel said, as quoted by Michigan Advance. “I don’t want to get chased around. I don’t want to get harassed. I don’t want to get yelled and screamed at. I don’t want to get booed off the stage, irrespective of what I’m saying.”

Nessel said she believed the harassment would occur “because it’s been happening to me.” She also compared her party’s embrace of antisemitism to the rise of neo-Nazi.

“I will speak as a member of the Democratic Party here in Michigan, that some things have changed,” Nessel added. “This cannot continue, and the fact of the matter is, we have to be able to be a society where we can have intelligent discourse and debate about ideas without people being threatened, and certainly without people carrying out those threats.”

Her remarks come after she has faced vocal protests and heckling from anti-Israel activists, who have targeted her presumably because she is Jewish and openly supports Israel.

Nessel has maintained a far-left record and has faced criticism from Republicans over her use of the attorney general’s office.

In 2025, a Michigan judge rebuked her aggressive prosecution of 16 Republican alternate electors in connection with the 2020 presidential election, ruling that her office failed to produce enough evidence to establish criminal intent.

Nessel even listed President Donald Trump as an unindicted conspirator in the case.

Additionally, Nessel oversaw the prosecutions of the men accused of plotting to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer—the case manufactured by more than 10 undercover FBI agents and informants.

Nessel was first elected attorney general in 2018 and sworn into office in 2019. She was reelected in 2022 and is now term-limited.

She is not currently running for another office, though she was briefly rumored as a potential candidate to replace term-limited Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in 2026.
