(Ezekiel Loseke, Headline USA) Attorney General Merrick Garland has appointed yet another special counsel to investigate Donald Trump in the wake his 2024 presidential campaign announcement, according to the Washington Post.
The counsel will investigate Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified information related to the Mar-a-Lago raid, and his skepticism about the legitimacy of the 2020 Presidential election.
The people running the show hope that the use of a special counsel will obfuscate the partisan nature of the appointment, according to the New York Post.
Unfortunately for these schemers, even the mainstream media sees the political nature of this appointment. The Post wrote that, “A special-counsel appointment won’t entirely eliminate the appearance of a conflict,” and anticipated that “Mr. Garland and other senior Justice Department officials are still likely to be involved in some decision-making related to the probe.”
A former justice department official said the department will likely try to do a rush job on the Trump case. They informed the New York Post that, “there will be added pressure to get through the review.”
In the end, the special counsel itself is very likely simply a smokescreen, as the appointment of the special counsel will be handled with great care to ensure the desired outcome of the investigation is achieved.
Garland appears to have an axe to grind against Republicans after his failed nomination to the Supreme Court. The failed nominee repeatedly targeted the president who nominated a more competent man, Justice Neill Gorsuch, whose nomination could be approved by the U.S. Senate.
Garland’s appointment of a special counsel comes after over 100 Congressional Republicans sent the failed nominee a letter asking him to appoint a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden. Garland has chosen to keep that investigation in house, to over-see the Biden matter himself.
