From Tea Party to Kool-Aid: GOP Rep. Wants Zelenskyy Bust in Congress

'They fully understand the meaning behind the American Revolution mottos of Don’t Tread On Me and Live Free or Die. The United States stands with Ukraine for victory... '

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Former Tea Party leader, Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., betrayed his own constituents, putting forward a resolution to display a bust of Ukrainian President and amateur actor Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the United States Capitol.

Wilson, who has served in Congress since 2001 and who is senior member of both the House Armed Services and Foreign Affairs committees, put forward the resolution to put up a bust of a controversial foreign leader in the U.S. Capitol, the Blaze reported.

Resolved, That the House of Representatives directs the Fine Arts Board to obtain a bust of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, for display in a suitable, permanent location in the House of Representatives wing of the United States Capitol,” his resolution stated.

Wilson has been praising Zelenskyy for months, even going so far as suggesting that he is more American than many Americans.

Wilson achieved fame initially by shouting “you lie!” at then-President Barack Obama during a 2009 address to Congress.

Zelenskyy and the Ukrainians in his words, “fully understand the meaning behind the American Revolution mottos of Don’t Tread On Me and Live Free or Die. The United States stands with Ukraine for victory.”

Zelenskyy recently addressed the U.S. Congress in order to beg for more aid, despite receiving millions from the American people.

“We need you right now,” Zelenskyy said, adding, “I call on you to do more.” In urging a steeper economic hit to the Russians, he said: “Peace is more important than income.”

During his speech he declared that Americans are not paying for the Ukrainian war effort, but instead for the promotion of democracy across the world.

“Your money is not charity. It’s an investment in the global security and democracy that we handle in the most responsible way.”
