Fox News Gets Into Movies w/ Story from Romance Novelist

'After I lost my husband, I was reminded of my friend’s story, and The Shell Collector tale came to me. I found comfort in this story and its characters, and I can’t wait to share it with others...'

(Headline USA) Fox News is getting into the movies by producing its first feature film, an adaptation of The Shell Collector from romance novelist Nancy Naigle.

The movie, which debuts Sept. 1, is the first of four films planned over the next year on the Fox Nation streaming service, the network said Tuesday.

The Shell Collector is described as a heartwarming story about a widow with two children who attempts to find a new life in their seaside town following the death of her husband.

“A family friend once found a shell near her home in the Outer Banks that had a scripture written inside,” Naigle said of her inspiration, according to a press release.

“The timing was profound, yet she never discovered how the shell found its way to her,” Naigle continued. “After I lost my husband, I was reminded of my friend’s story, and The Shell Collector tale came to me. I found comfort in this story and its characters, and I can’t wait to share it with others.”

Caitlin Clark, Christopher Russell and Jennifer Higgins are featured actors in the film, produced with Cartel Pictures.

Fox follows CNN, which has its own active CNN Films division that makes documentaries.

The streaming platform’s next film will be timed for the holidays.

Several of Naigle’s holiday books have been made into movies by the Hallmark Channel.

Fox Nation first undertook its foray into movies last year with two holiday themed films that notably followed a similar format to Hallmark’s regular Christmas movies but streamed exclusively on the burgeoning platform.

Christmas in the Pines and Christmas in the Wilds were produced by Brain Power Studio in association with INSP Films, according to Business Wire.
