Fla. Legislator Seeks to Name Highway in Honor of President Donald J. Trump

'Looking forward to working on this important designation honoring one of the greatest Presidents in American History...'

A Florida legislator on Tuesday announced his plan to promote a measure renaming a stretch of highway traversing the entire state in honor of former president Donald Trump.

The highway currently goes by two names: the Purple Heart Memorial Highway and the Claude Pepper Memorial Highway, according to the Gateway Pundit.

Rep. Anthony Sabatini’s proposal would retain the recognition honoring veteran Purple Heart recipients.

Sabatini, himself a national guardsman, has been an outspoken Trump supporter and advocate for conservative values including Second Amendment rights.

He also received national attention for pushing back against mandatory vaccines and mask mandates.

Although mainstream media attempted to hammer Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, for his coronavirus response, deciding to keep open most businesses while blue states pushed for economic collapse, Florida has since been propped up as a success model in containing the pandemic.

Trump’s decision to relocate from his longtime New York home to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach appears to have ushered in a wave of prominent conservative voices to gravitate to the Sunshine State.

Sabatini’s proposal quickly garnered attention as Trump settles into his post-presidency role, with his future plans still to be determined amid House Democrats’ effort to block him from re-election as part of their latest impeachment do-over.

At least one House Democrat, Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-Texas, already had promoted a measure to prevent federal buildings from being named after Trump.

Likewise, some online Twitter trolls were less than complimentary of the plan to rename the highway.
