Experts Believe Many Children Interested in ‘Transitioning’ Are Autistic

'It wasn't uncommon to find that one of them thought they were a dog or a cat or something else... '

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) A recent report revealed that children with autism are more susceptible to identifying as transgender, and identify as trans more often than almost any other group.

According to the Daily Caller, people who identify as trans are also three to six times more likely to be autistic. The uptick “gender affirming care” into mainstream health practices lead to more and more scientists studying the connection between the two phenomena.

The Gender Development Identity Service at Tavistock—the world’s largest gender clinic—faced mounting public criticism over allegations that 97.5% of the institution’s gender patients also had autism.

Some professionals, such as Dr. Susan Bradley, believe that Big Pharma exploits autistic pediatric gender patients.

“When we were seeing these kids from a very young age, we had kids who would come into the clinic, a little girl who thinks she’s a boy or vice versa,” Bradley explained at the DSM-IV Subcommittee on Gender Disorders. “It wasn’t uncommon to find that one of them thought they were a dog or a cat or something else.”

Bradley demonstrated that many of these kids have trouble in social situations, often feel excluded or isolated from their peers and often do not understand that they are different from others.

She also explained that many very young children are very poorly equipped to manage the emotions that coincide with these experiences, often leading to them to search for alternative peer groups.

“When somebody happens to mention that, you know, they’re trans or they hear about trans kids and go online, even if all they do is say, ‘I wonder if I’m trans,’ a lot of these kids are automatically accepted,” Bradley explained. “‘Well, you must be trans if you’ve even thought about that.’ And for them, that is a very helpful reaction, because all of a sudden, they feel as though that explains all of the trouble all the way along.”

Several other doctors believe that the literal mindset of autistic people may contribute to the growing trend.

The population of transgender youth has skyrocketed in the last ten years, with an estimated 300,000 minors now “transitioning” and many of them seeking permanent medical changes to affirm their “gender identity.”
