Donalds Says GOP Not Playing by Pelosi’s Book on Biden Impeachment

'When we took over the majority, the thing we did not want to do was play games with the Constitution and with impeachment, the way Nancy Pelosi did...'

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) In a interview with Newsmax’s John Bachman Now on Friday, Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., issued a stern warning to fellow Republicans, urging them to approach any potential impeachment proceedings against President Joe Biden with caution and adherence to the principles of the Constitution.

Donalds emphasized the need for a measured, deliberate, and fair process, distinct from what he described as the Democrats’ past partisan approach under Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

During the interview, Donalds stated, “With respect to impeachment, I fully believe that we’re going to start an impeachment inquiry in the House of Representatives and that we’re going to present this case, present this information to the members of the House, and I think votes will probably take place at some point in the future.”

When pressed about the timeline of a potential impeachment, the congressman concurred with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif.,‘s proposal related to taking a slow approach. “We should probably open up—I think we are going to open up an impeachment inquiry through the Judiciary Committee chaired by Jim Jordan,” Donalds assured.

He further added, “I think the Judiciary Committee will then compile all of the evidence of a lot of it’s come out of the Oversight Committee. They will compile it all.”

Donalds also expressed concern over past impeachment processes. “When we took over the majority, the thing we did not want to do was play games with the Constitution and with impeachment, the way Nancy Pelosi did when Nancy Pelosi did where these gunshots impeachment votes would occur with no evidence whatsoever, and hardly any deliberation.”

The congressman emphasized the importance of a responsible approach to impeachment, adding, “With the last 6, 7 months of our own investigations and oversight and judiciary — combined with an impeachment inquiry in judiciary that respects the Constitution — it actually gives Joe Biden whoever wants to defend him in the house an ability to do that.”

Donalds concluded, “Then the evidence will be presented to the members of Congress and to the American people, and we go from there more measured, deliberate, and fair process.”
