DOJ’s Subpoena Tactic to Freeze Opposition Follows Wisc. Precedent

'What happened in the John Doe abuses in Wisconsin was a trial run for what DOJ/FBI are doing now... '

(Joshua Paladino, Headline USA) The Justice Department issued more than 40 warrants and grand jury subpoenas against former President Donald Trump’s allies in an effort to freeze the Biden administration’s opponents.

The subpoenas and search warrants have let the FBI steal phones and other electronic devices from Republicans and conservatives, Legal Insurrection reported. The warrants seek broad electronic records that could implicate many more people than those who have their devices seized.

The DOJ used the Jan. 6 investigation to justify the anti-Trump crackdown, but the Biden administration waited until six weeks before the 2022 midterm elections to intimidate its opponents, showing that the investigation has a political, not a legal, basis.

The unsubstantiated subpoenas and search warrants serve two purposes.

The first is to intimidate Trump’s allies and supporters into silence and non-action by sending the message that America-First political participation could lead to security state prosecution.

The second is to fish for violations of obscure laws to increase the perception that Trump’s allies and supporters are illegitimate political opponents and domestic terrorists.

Lawyer Harmeet Dhillon, who founded the Center for American Liberty, discussed the DOJ and FBI’s tactics with Tucker Carlson on Sept. 9.

Far-Left prosecutors used the same tactics against Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and his allies in the leadup to the 2014 midterm elections. The prosecutors sued think tanks, like the Wisconsin Club for Growth, and claimed that Walker’s campaign could not promote the same ideas as the non-profit organization.

The lawsuits, subpoenas and search warrants had the same intention as today’s anti-Trump investigations.

“What happened in the John Doe abuses in Wisconsin was a trial run for what DOJ/FBI are doing now,” Legal Insurrection reported. “It’s an attempt to freeze the political movement opposing the Biden administration and Democrats.”
