(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) Multiple top-ranking Democrats and officials from the Biden administration refused to answer questions about the waves of migrants illegally crossing the southern border, often with increasingly deadly consequences for both illegal immigrants and U.S. citizens.
President Joe Biden has set multiple immigration records since taking office, for all the wrong reasons, producing national security risks and a surging humanitarian crisis. More than 2.3 million illegal border crossing have spurred the chaos over the last 11 months, a record high.
“250,000 unaccompanied migrant children arrived at the border since President Biden’s took office. Some of them trafficked, some of them drowning in the river. Any issue with that?” Fox News reporter Melugin asked Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., earlier this week.
Pressley ignored the question, just like a host of other regime Democrats and administration officials who Melugin pressed on the border crisis.
Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, dodged any comment on the border with a lame excuse, before running from the question.
“Chairman, one question, in your opinion, is the border secure?”
“I have to go give a speech,” Thompson huffed. “Did you hear me?”
“I heard you,” Melugin said. “It’s a quick question, is the border secure?”
The Democrat whose committee is charged with securing the border refused to answer.

The border questions take on significant importance with recent news that fiscal year 2022 ended with at least 599,000 known “gotaways” at the border, illegals who eluded detention, a significant increase from 2021 when Homeland Security reported 390,000 gotaways, according to a Customs and Border Protection source.

When asked about the “gotaways” numbers that have skyrocketed under his watch, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas refused to comment.
“Do you have a few moments to talk about the border real quick?” Melugin asked.
“I’m sorry, I don’t,” Mayorkas deflected
“A few moments of your time is all we’re asking for and we’ll let you go,” Melugin said. “We reached out to your office, asked to talk to you last week. They blew us off.”
“I appreciate it,” Mayorkas scoffed.
“Is 900,000 got-a-ways a secure border?” Melugin asked.
“Have a good day,” Mayorkas said. “Thank you.”
The only Democrats who deemed to address the border crisis represented communities that have been ravaged by the chaos. Their assessment of the situation pulled no partisan punches.
“This is our administration. I’m a Democrat. And you know, they need to understand they own it now,” Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, said.
“They own it now. And they have to take the steps to correct this otherwise, you know, when are we going to see an end to this?”
