Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis slammed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and other “lockdown politicians” who have been seen escaping to Florida for vacation after criticizing his hands-off approach to the pandemic.
“If I had a dollar for every lockdown politician that decided to escape to Florida over the last two years, I’d be a pretty doggone wealthy man,” DeSantis said on Monday. “Congresspeople, mayors, governors, you name it.”
The Republican said it is “interesting” that so many of the same people who enforce draconian COVID-19 policies in their own states want to travel to a state that has already moved on from the pandemic.
“The reception some of these folks will get in Florida,” he said, “because I think a lot of Floridians will say ‘Wait a minute, you’re bashing us because we’re not doing your draconian policies and yet we’re the first place you want to flee to,… to be able to enjoy life.'”
“I mean, there are probably about a half dozen governors who have restrictions on their people and then were spotted at various points in Florida,” DeSantis continued. “Some of it’s been public, some of it has not been public.”
Most recently, Ocasio-Cortez was spotted partying in Miami, maskless, while her own state of New York logged a record number of positive cases.
Welcome to Florida, AOC!
We hope you’re enjoying a taste of freedom here in the Sunshine State thanks to @RonDeSantisFL’s leadership. https://t.co/AU0Khspu8P

Ocasio-Cortez responded to criticism from Republicans by claiming they are “mad” they can’t “date” her.
If Republicans are mad they can’t date me they can just say that instead of projecting their sexual frustrations onto my boyfriend’s feet.
Ya creepy weirdos https://t.co/Z7bZCgXpWJ
