(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) In an attempt to help elect so-called MAGA Republican candidates that leftists thought would be easier to defeat in the midterms, the Democrat Party used its money and manpower to support Trump-backed candidates in GOP primaries.
That included using the strategy in Arizona, where Democrats who backed incumbent Secretary of State Katie Hobbs’ gubernatorial campaign actively tried to help Republican Kari Lake win her GOP primary.
The Democrats’ election-meddling strategy was revealed in a undercover video from Project Veritas Action, and was disclosed by Becky Hobbs, the twin sister of Katie Hobbs.
“So, all across the country, Democrat candidates — not candidates themselves — but the party was putting money in [GOP] primaries — into the races of the extreme Trump-endorsed candidates, as opposed to the moderate Republicans that were running,” Becky Hobbs said on the tape.
“They wanted those extremists to win because they knew that the Dems had a better chance of winning their races against the extremist candidates than they did against the moderate Republicans,” she admitted.
The scheme extended as far as Becky Hobbs and her husband registering as Republicans to help elect candidates they thought would be easier for Democrats to beat.
Becky Hobbs is a private citizen, and apparently not directly staffed on her sister’s campaign, but she works for Mission for Arizona PAC that is funded by the Arizona Democratic Party, according to Project Veritas chief James O’Keefe. The PAC is behind all of the state’s key races, including the governor’s tilt for Hobbs, who is probably wishing her fellow Democrats hadn’t done her the favor of helping Lake win her primary against an establishment candidate.
Lake is outpacing Hobbs 47.4% to 46% in RCP polling average, with some polls showing Lake up by 3 points. Hobbs has spent the majority of her campaign regurgitating leftist talking points and dodging a debate with Lake.
“So, on election night — primary night — when we were at Katie’s (Hobbs campaign) event on primary night,” Katie’s sister Becky explained on the Veritas tape.
“And she didn’t know the night of the election who her opponent was gonna be — but [Republican] Karrin Taylor Robson was up by 10 points and it was kind of like, it took the air out of the room because everyone knew that Katie was polling better against Kari Lake, and everyone knew that Katie had a better chance to win against Kari Lake. So, everyone wanted Kari Lake to be the nominee,” Beck Hobbs said.
“So, it was kind of like, this sigh of relief when Kari Lake actually ended up winning.”
