(Chris Parker, Headline USA) Democrat politicians and pundits frequently use misinformation to attack gun rights. From claims that AR-15 rifles are fully automatic to downright lies that a 9mm handgun can blow out a human lung, they seem willing to tell any lie, regardless of how outrageous, to attack gun rights.
The latest and possibly most misinformed comes from Rep. Lucy McBath, D-Ga., during a Congressional hearing, reports Red State.
She recently described the impact of an “assault rifle” (which she also misidentified) the way most might describe the explosive impact of a grenade.
“With assault rifles, exit wounds can be a foot wide. The victim’s skull explodes on impact. Organs rupture, bones shatter, the shards serve as shrapnel and tear tissue to pieces,” she Tweeted. “There is a reason we never see the images after a mass murder—many of the bodies no longer exist.”
AR-15s and other rifles leave a wound that’s about the size of a coin. Even Snopes admitted that AR-15 exit wound sizes have been exaggerated by the left. However, those exaggerations have still largely described an impact much less severe than McBath’s claims.
The left has been attacking gun rights more aggressively as the midterm elections approach. In May, Biden claimed that a 9mm handgun “blows the lung out of the body.”
Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif. has previously admitted that he will lie about guns in his assault against gun rights.
However, leftists politicians have responded to fake gun news with real authoritarian policies. New York is pushing legislation that will require applicants for gun permits to list all of their social media accounts. Kamala Harris is spreading the notion that the Constitution does not protect gun rights. She also supports more federal gun bans.
However, the anti-gun rights laws that have been passed in America have done nothing to actually stop mass violence. Chicago learned that earlier this month when a mass shooter attacked crowds of people during the July 4th weekend. Cities with the most stringent gun-control laws tend to have the highest rates of gun violence.
