(Joshua Paladino, Headline USA) Democrat-backed opposition research groups have circulated old and unsubstantiated allegations against two House Republicans who plan to lead the charge to investigate President Joe Biden and his son Hunter, in a preemptive plot to sidetrack the possibility that a GOP House majority might hold the Biden regime accountable.
Facts First, led by former conservative journalist turned Democrat operative David Brock, republished stories from 2015 and 2020 about Reps. James Comer, R-Ky., and Jim Jordan, R-Ohio. Facts First plans to spend $10 million over the next two years to drudge up allegations against Republicans, the Washington Times reported.
Facts First spokesman Eddie Vale said the group’s goal is to derail and discredit the Republican-led congressional investigations into the Biden administration.
The opposition research campaign “is not geared towards pushing [the lawmakers] out of Congress before ’24 but for pushing back on the hypocrisy of those doing the investigations and/or the Republican leadership for their choices,” Vale said.
Both stories place the Republicans at the center of sexual abuse scandals.
The Democrat muckrakers brought up an allegation from 2020 that Jordan, while an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University, ignored sexual misconduct by the team’s physician Richard Strauss.
Former Ohio State wrestling coach Russ Hellickson denied that he or Jordan knew about sexual misconduct.
Facts First also spread a 2015 story that originated with Comer’s college girlfriend, who said he abused her mentally and physically during their time at Western Kentucky University. She said Comer helped her get an abortion in Louisville.
The former girlfriend spread the story during Comer’s run for governor.
Comer “profusely” rejected the story, called it “not true,” and threatened a “devastating lawsuit.”
Vale said Americans will see what he called the hypocrisy in “having Jordan and Comer leading the charge on a lot of this when they’re accused of covering up abuse and assault.”
Noticeably, nowhere in that statement of alleged GOP misdeeds, which have produced no substance of validity, was there any denial refuting the mounting evidence against Biden and his collaborators.
