‘Defund the Police’ Rep. Denies She’s a Hypocrite for Spending $70K on Private Security

'I'm going to make sure I have security because I know I have had attempts on my life, and I have too much work to do...'

(Headline USA) ‘Squad’ member Cori Bush, a Democrat congresswoman from Missouri, defended her $70,000 expenditure on private security after her repeated calls to “defund the police,” which when enacted would leave thousands of her poor constituents unable to protect themselves.

The spending came from her campaign account during the most recent election reporting period, according to Fox News.

Bush responded to question about whether she is a hypocrite in an interview on CBS News this morning.

“I’m going to make sure I have security because I know I have had attempts on my life, and I have too much work to do.” she said. “There are too many people that need help right now for me to allow that.”

The St. Louis congresswoman has conducted a demonstration at the Capitol the last few days, sleeping outside to protest the end of an unconstitutional eviction moratorium that had been imposed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Biden administration announced yesterday it would extend the moratorium until October, following an outcry by progressives over its end.

She defiantly stated she would spend even more on her personal security as she stood in front of the Capitol for her CBS interview.

“So if I end up spending $200,000. If I spend…ten more dollars on it, you know what? I get to be here to do the work,” she said.

“So suck it up, and defunding the police has to happen,” she added. “We need to defund the police and put that money into social safety nets.”
