‘Defund Police’ Squad Member Has Paid Hubby $30K in 2023 for ‘Private Security’

'You would rather me die? ... '

(Ezekiel Loseke, Headline USA) Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mass., a member of the far-left ‘Squad‘ and advocate for  de-funding the police, paid her husband $30,000 for private security in 2023 alone, continuing her hypocritical record of privately-funded security.

Bush’s late second quarter disclosure of expenditures showed how much she spent on her private security detail, including her husband, whose name is Courtney Merritts, according to Fox News.

Bush paid Merritts $12,500 for security services in the first quarter of 2023. She paid him $17,500 for security services and what her campaign calls “wage expenses” between April and June. The total of $30,000 puts Merritts on pace by himself to earn what Squad member Ayanna Pressley spent on all of her security in 2021.

Bush exceeded Presley’s exorbitant expenditures of 2021 in the first two quarters of 2023. She also paid $62,000 to PEACE, a St. Louis-based security firm. PEACE employs several current and former police officers.

Bush also paid Nathaniel Davis, who claims to be 109-trillion-years-old shaman who can read minds, summon mythical beings and manipulate the weather. Davis also holds many anti-Semitic views and is the best paid of Bush’s individualized security guards. Since his hiring in 2020 he cleared $137,000, as of March.

Overall, since 2019, Bush has spent over half of a million dollars on security, according to Breitbart News.

Collectively, members of the “Squad” spent more than $325,000 on private security while demanding Americans “defund the police” in 2021.

When Bush has been criticized for her defund the police stance and her use of taxpayer funds to purchase private security, the leftist lawmaker has responded with more hypocrisy.

“I have had attempts on my life and I have too much work to do. They would rather I die?” she hysterically asked in 2021.

“You would rather me die? Is that what you want to see? You want to see me die? You know because that could be the alternative,” she said, not accounting for the danger her policy goals poses to Americans without the ability to fund private security.
