CNN Uses MTG for Hit Job on House Freedom Caucus

'I enjoy being a free agent a lot better... '

(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) In the wake of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., being booted from the House Freedom Caucus, CNN used her ouster as an anchor for a lengthy hit piece on the influential group of conservative lawmakers.

Greene chose the notoriously leftist network to confirm on Thursday that “she no longer considers herself a member of the Freedom Caucus,” and proclaimed that she hasn’t returned any calls from caucus members because “I don’t care.”

Regarding her ouster, Greene said, “I enjoy being a free agent a lot better. I’m interested in getting accomplishments done, not doing things just to disrupt and fight leadership. And that’s a major difference,” added the lawmaker who has seen her largely ineffective and multiple calls to impeach various Biden officials serve as a fundraising boon.

Claiming after her ouster that she wasn’t “interested in any type of drama, or petty conversations,” Greene’s comments gave CNN a plank to launch plenty.

The network derided the Freedom Caucus as a “bloated” group of disorganized “rabble-rousers,” citing anonymous sources and claiming “the ultra conservative caucus quickly became a fanclub for Donald Trump, more defined by personalities than a devotion to policy.”

Democrats, establishment RINOs and their collective fake news collaborators are still stinging from Freedom Caucus members flexing their political muscle and acumen to extract conservative concessions in their negotiations to appoint Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., oftentimes in conflict with sudden McCarthy-acolyte Greene.

The deciding factor to boot Greene was reportedly her heated House-floor confrontation last month when she called Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., a “little bitch.” CNN focused on an anonymous “conservative lawmaker” claiming “The reality is they’re mad at her for playing ball with McCarthy, and still being one of Trump’s favorites. It’s pretty evident. That’s what’s gone down.”

The anonymous lawmaker, who CNN claimed “is often aligned with the group” claimed that “Days are numbered anyway for the group. Because they go in 100 different directions.”

Greene’s loyalty to McCarthy might have drawn the ire of Freedom Caucus members, but it’s paid dividends for her finances, according to Punchbowl News.

“McCarthy is hosting a fundraiser to benefit MTG this afternoon, a further sign of their growing alliance,” the outlet tweeted. “The goal is to raise more than $50,000 for MTG, said a source familiar with the event.”

Boebert, who along with Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., and other caucus members squared off against Greene and her support of McCarthy during the speakership vote, offered her continued support for the Freedom Caucus and its role in shaping policy moving forward.

“We proved at the beginning of the year that when you stand on principle, you can deliver amazing wins for the American people,” Boebert said. “We fought to have the tools to do what we are doing today. And it’s time that we stop bragging about our tools, admiring our tools, and actually get some nicks in them.”
