(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The mother of late conservative leader Charlie Kirk voiced her support for Erika Kirk, her son’s widow and now president of Turning Point USA, amid a wide range of conspiratorial and unsubstantiated claims circulating online.
Kathryn Kirk, a retired mental health professional, offered a rare public show of support for Erika in a one-of-a-kind interview with Vanity Fair, which had profiled Erika in a story published Tuesday.
“We were 100 percent behind her. Erika and I have, through the trauma, grown closer,” Kathryn told the lefty magazine. “We knew Charlie in a way that no one else did. We can look at each other’s eyes and we know the depth of our despair.”
The Vanity Fair interview was Kathryn’s first time speaking with a media outlet since Charlie was killed while addressing a large crowd of supporters at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10, 2025.
Charlie had just kicked off his “American Comeback Tour,” a little over eight months after President Donald Trump returned to the White House.
Kathryn’s remarks come as Erika grapples with a barrage of online conspiracies while mourning Charlie’s death. One such rumor claimed that Charlie had removed Erika from his will before his death. The claim originated in a satirical website, though some trolls promoted it as true.
Other, far more unhinged claims have danced around the idea that Erika and Turning Point USA may somehow be implicated in Charlie’s death.
Utah prosecutors have identified Tyler Robinson, 23, as the alleged perpetrator in Charlie’s death and charged him with at least seven criminal counts in connection with the shooting.
Robinson has pleaded not guilty to all charges, including aggravated murder. He is awaiting a trial date after Utah District Judge Tony Graf ruled there was sufficient evidence for the murder case to proceed.
