Biden Lies about Attending a Black Church in High School after Catholic Mass

'What's your name honey? It's good to see you. Maybe I can have a picture with you before I leave, OK?'

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) During an appearance Sunday at the former church of Martin Luther King Jr., President Joe Biden falsely declared that he had attended a black church in Delaware after attending daily Catholic Mass in high school.

Biden was visiting Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, in honor of King’s federal holiday on Monday, Breitbart reported.

“I may be a practicing Catholic, we used to go 7:30 a.m. mass every morning in high school and college before I went to the black church,” he said. “Not a joke.”

Several congregants of the church Biden claimed to attend said they do not remember meeting Biden or even seeing him at a service, despite his claims that he formed a relationship with the church.

Biden made a similar claim on the campaign trail in 2020 when speaking at a Baptist church in South Carolina.

“I’d go to 8 o’clock Mass, then I’d go to Reverend Herring’s church where we’d meet in order to organize and figure where we were going to go, whether we were going to desegregate the Rialto movie theater or what we were going to do,” he said.

Biden repeatedly made the claim on the campaign trail, also making similar remarks at an NAACP event in Iowa in 2020.

“I was raised in the black church politically—not a joke,” he said during a speech at an NAACP event in Iowa in 2020.

Among his many whoppers, Biden also has claimed repeatedly to have been arrested during a civil rights protest, although no records exist to corroborate the tale.

Through the course of his speech on Sunday, Biden, who turned 80 in November, made other questionable claims about his six-decade-long track record in social justice.

At times, he seemed to lose his thread and meander discursively from one yarn to the next.

“When I started off as a 22-year-old on the east side of the civil rights movement,” Biden said. “I got elected to the United States Senate when I was 29 and wasn’t old enough to take office.”

The president also insisted he fought apartheid in South Africa.

Left-leaning fact checkers rated both of these claims as false. Biden also admitted the latter story to be untrue.

The president also took a moment to call out an unknown female audience member, asking to get a picture with them. The audience cheered and applauded in response to his unprompted pause.

Biden’s falsehoods have long been a part of his political persona. He was forced to drop out of the 1988 presidential primary after he was caught plagiarizing a speech and has falsely claimed in the past to have fought in Israel’s 1967 Six-Day War when he was in his second year of law school.

Biden also has lied about his academic credentials.

But his patterns of dishonest have taken on a new pall during his time as president. Biden currently is under investigation for his mishandling of classified documents.

But left-wing operatives in the political realm and in the media—including View cohost Joy Behar and Rob Reiner, the actor who portrayed “Meathead” on All in the Family—have insisted that Biden deserves to be taken on good faith due to his integrity.

Despite his claims of being a civil-rights champion, Biden also has a long and troubled history of making racially insensitive and offensive remarks.

With newly elected Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., drawing calls from many on the left and right to resign, Democrats’ willing to look the other way in allowing Biden and others within their own party to brazenly lie about their background has undermined their moral authority in the matter.
