Despite ‘Dobbs’ Victory, Abortion Remains Leading Cause of Death Worldwide

'Ancient civilizations sacrificed children, we abort them... '

(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) The Biden regime has set more than its fair share of notorious record highs, from the border crisis to inflation, and can add an assist for helping abortion remain in 2022 the top leading cause of death worldwide for the fourth consecutive year.

The number of abortions last year nearly quadrupled the number of deaths from infectious diseases, which was the second leading cause of death.

More than 44 million unborn babies were killed last year, according to Worldometer, a database that tracks health statistics, the global population and other social metrics in real-time. The abortion count of 44 million came from a snapshot captured Dec. 31, 2022, which also showed communicable diseases ranking as the second leading cause of death in 2022 with nearly 13 million fatalities.

“In the USA, where nearly 30% of pregnancies are unintended and 40% of these are terminated by abortion, there are between 1,500 to 2,500 abortions per day,” Worldometer reported. Nearly 20% of all pregnancies in the USA (excluding miscarriages) end in abortion, according to the report.

“Ancient civilizations sacrificed children, we abort them,” tweeted a pro-life advocate.

The World Health Organization, which considers abortion essential healthcare, estimated the death toll from abortion was even higher last year, with abortions killing at least 73 million unborn babies.

In tandem with the global title of top killer, abortion was also the leading cause of death in America, according to Worldometer.

“In the USA, where nearly 30% of pregnancies are unintended and 40% of these are terminated by abortion, there are between 1,500 to 2,500 abortions per day,” Worldometer reported. “Guttmacher Institute reports 930,160 abortions performed in 2020 in the United States, with a rate of 14.4 per 1,000 women.”

The Biden administration has aggressively worked to keep those numbers high and climbing higher, circumventing the Supreme Court’s Dobbs ruling, as well as individual states’ laws. Those efforts have included allowing abortion pills to be sold over the counter in pharmacies and authorizing the U.S. Postal Service to deliver abortion pills to states where the practice of murdering unborn babies is illegal.

“True reproductive justice can never be achieved by killing the smallest members of our community via abortion,” said Protect Life Michigan’s Cassidy Shooltz. “Abortion is the worldwide leading cause of death — a form of HOMICIDE is the leading cause of demise. We won’t stop fighting until every child is safe from abortion.”
