As Biden Tightens China Restrictions, Leftist Media Hops Back on Mask Bandwagon

There’s a second story of the pandemic happening, which is not about ‘It’s time to go back to normal'...

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) The fear-mongering Left is back in action, pushing COVID restrictions with their old zeal, in particular trying to bring back the symbol of the COVID regime: the mask.

According to a New Yorker op-ed, penned by journalist Emma Green, there is a case for wearing masks forever.

The op-ed cites Gregg Gonsalves, a Yale epidemiologist and activist who spent years heavily involved in AIDS activism, who noted that there are numerous experts throughout America who wish to live under COVID lockdown restrictions permanently.

“There’s a second story of the pandemic happening, which is not about ‘It’s time to go back to normal,’” he said.

“Normal for whom, and who’s getting left behind? I think that’s where the People’s C.D.C. and others are trying to stake a claim and trying valiantly to make an impact.”

The New York Times joined in the fun, signalling their condolences to the few COVID-conscious people who still wear masks voluntarily.

“The vulnerable and the risk-averse are finding themselves the rare mask-wearers on public transportation, in places of worship, and at offices and stores,” journalist Amy Harmon wrote.

At the same time, the Biden administration has demanded that travelers from China undergo COVID testing before they enter the United States, per a Daily Wire report.

Beginning on January 5, all travelers over the age of two will have to provide proof of a negative COVID test within 48 hours of their travels.

Per public health officials, the new protocols are necessary to slow the spread, especially amidst rumors that a new variant might be spreading.

“There are mounting concerns in the international community on the ongoing Covid-19 surges in China and the lack of transparent data, including viral genomic sequence data, being reported from the PRC,” officials said.

“Without this data, it is becoming increasingly difficult for public health officials to ensure that they will be able to identify any potential new variants and take prompt measures to reduce the spread.”
