AOC Fails to Pay Her Own Back Taxes, Despite Demands to ‘Tax the Rich’

'All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others... '

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Squad-leading leftist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., has found herself in a bit of trouble over her unpaid corporate taxes.

Apparently, the representative is not included as “the rich” in “tax the rich,” despite being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars per year.

A tax warrant that AOC‘s comms team denied she was aware of when she took office in 2019, has been racking up fines since she first promised to repay her debt. Instead of paying the money back, she opted to contest the taxes and refused to pay the amount, which was overdue by five years.

Brook Avenue Press, a children-focused publishing house founded by Ocasio-Cortez in 2012, received a tax warrant in July 2017, to collect $1,618 in unpaid corporate taxes. Since the warrant was filed, the balance has grown by 52% to $2,461.

Brook Avenue Press was dissolved in 2016.

A representative for the Bronx County Clerk’s Office confirmed that the tax warrant against AOC’s business remains open.

It is not clear why she has not paid her debt to society, especially because Ocasio-Cortez is, relative to the average American, rich.

With a congressional salary, a Tesla, and a ritzy D.C. apartment, $2,461 would seem a small sum to the representative, especially when you consider that those tax dollars may go towards funding debt forgiveness, or one of the many other causes she champions.

Much of AOC’s career has been built on criticizing rich people, and constantly shilling for progressive taxes.
