(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Paster Kenneth Sharpton Glasgow, half-brother of famous race activist, Reverend Al Sharpton, received a 30-month prison sentence for drug trafficking, income tax evasion and lying to obtain Social Security benefits, the Daily Mail reported.
In an Alabama court, Glasgow pleaded guilty to embezzling $407,000 from two non-profit organizations that he founded, including The Ordinary People Society–a felon voting rights advocacy organization–and the Prodigal Child Project.
He also lied to the Social Security administration, collecting $376,000, which he has been ordered to repay, telling the administration that he could not drive because of severe physical difficulties.
Glasgow’s prison sentence, which his attorney Jim Parkman called “a fair sentence,” will begin Aug. 17.
But Glasgow’s legal woes are far from over. The criminal and pastor also pleaded guilty in another case to conspiring with Willie Frank Peterson to distribute cocaine. He is also in court for an alleged assault against a police officer, who had tried to remove illegal drugs from his mouth during a traffic stop.
On top of all of this, Glasgow was found in March 2018 with 26-year-old Jaime Townes after the body of 23-year-old Breunia Jennings was found in a wrecked car in Alabama.
Jennings had been shot in the head, and authorities believe that Townes murdered her.
Authorities said that “instead of him (Townes) notifying law enforcement, he took matters into his own hands and jumped in Mr. Glasgow’s vehicle to find Breunia Jennings.”
At the time, Glasgow said that he was not responsible for anything at all.
“I don’t know why I am facing capital murder charges,” Glasgow argued.
“I’m not responsible for what someone else does. He just asked me for a ride to take him to look for his car.”
Glasgow is the son of Al Sharpton Sr. and Al Sharpton’s half-sister, Tina Glasgow, making him both a half-brother and also half-uncle to Al Sharpton.
