Texas Gov. Greg Abbott: Calling All Jailers to Help Lock Up Illegal Aliens

'The State of Texas will not tolerate criminal activity, which is why we are stepping up to address this crisis in the Biden Administration's absence...'

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Friday called on jailers to assist sheriffs in border counties with booking, incarcerating and releasing criminal illegal aliens.

“The State of Texas will not tolerate criminal activity, which is why we are stepping up to address this crisis in the Biden Administration’s absence,” Abbott said, according to a press release.

“Part of our comprehensive efforts to secure the border include enforcing all state and federal laws, which is why we are calling on jailers and sheriffs across the state to volunteer support for our border sheriffs,” he said.

Upon taking office, President Joe Biden opened the US–Mexico border, scrapped former President Donald Trump‘s policies, and invited a flood of illegal aliens who likely will remain in the United States indefinitely and support the Democratic Party.

Given Biden’s encouragement of illegal immigration—which brings crime, drugs and prostitution in tow, disproportionately harming already marginalized communities and the immigrants themselves—state governors have assumed the responsibility to enforce the nation’s laws.

Abbott, along with Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, said last week that he lacks the resources to deal with the crisis, since the federal government has traditionally handled border enforcement.

Texas needs jailers “with supervisory and release experience, trained booking officers with TLETS/AFIS experience, and current or former jailers who were honorably discharged within the last two years,” Abbott said.

At a border security summit in Del Rio on June 10, Abbott outlined the expanded role that Texas will playing in securing the border.

He directed the Texas Department of Public Safety to enforce all state and federal laws related to “criminal trespassing, illegal entry, smuggling and human trafficking,” according to a press release.

He also ordered the Texas Commission on Jail Standards and the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement to erect additional prisons for criminal illegal aliens.

Now Abbott needs the personnel to man these facilities.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sent state cops to assist Texas in securing the border and arresting criminals.
