(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Embattled Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., appears to be losing support among Democrats, with nearly 40 of them declining to sign a letter defending her amid an immigration investigation, while others have rebuked her for campaigning with accused anti-Semite Hasan Piker.

Omar’s troubles stem from a DHS investigation into her immigration record, including her first marriage to a man whom critics have identified as her brother and whether she unlawfully acquired U.S. citizenship because of age restrictions.

Omar came under fire this weekend for a planned event with Piker, a leftist streamer. Her colleague Rep. Angie Craig, D-Minn., called Piker’s rhetoric “polarizing and dangerous” and said embracing him is “a mistake,” according to Fox.

The gubernatorial campaign of Sen. Amy Klobuchar referred to some of Piker’s past comments as “reckless and unacceptable.”

Meanwhile, 175 Democrats characterized the investigation as a political witch hunt, as Omar has long been a target of criticism over her leftist policy views and anti-American rhetoric.

However, nearly 40 of Omar’s colleagues declined to sign an Oct. 26 letter from Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., to DOJ leadership criticizing Homeland Security Investigations’ raid on Omar’s Washington, D.C., home.

As reported first by Newsweek, those who did not add their signatures to the letter were former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.; Reps. Steny Hoyer, D-Md.; Josh Gottheimer, D-N.J.; Henry Cuellar, D-Texas; and Jared Golden, D-Maine.

Other notable names missing from the letter include Reps. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla.; Lucy McBath, D-Ga.; Hillary Scholten, D-Mich.; Haley Stevens, D-Mich.; Chris Pappas, D-N.H.; Vicente Gonzalez, D-Texas; Eugene Vindman, D-Va.; and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, D-Wash.

The Democrats who signed the letter addressed it to Attorney General Todd Blanche and DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin. In it, they expressed their “unequivocal opposition to your raid of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s home.”

They added, “We are profoundly alarmed by your weaponization of federal law enforcement against her and demand you refrain from taking any further actions that could affect the outcome of any upcoming election.”

Addressing the allegations against Omar, the Democrats said the Trump administration’s actions “are clearly driven by a pre-determined political outcome rather than an objective pursuit of justice.”

“Your probe into the Congresswoman reportedly concerns her late father’s filing of immigration paperwork after she fled Somalia’s civil war at age eight, making her a U.S. citizen at age seventeen,” the 175 Democrats continued. These circumstances, the Democrats claimed, do not “justify a pre-dawn raid on her home for paperwork her father filed when she was a minor.”

The investigation into Omar remains active, and it is unclear whether the Trump administration will seek a grand jury indictment or pursue civil proceedings to revoke her citizenship and potentially deport her to Somalia.

Omar entered the U.S. as a child and automatically acquired citizenship after her father was naturalized. A key question reportedly being examined is whether she was 17 or 18 at the time, as turning 18 could have made her ineligible to automatically acquire citizenship through her father.

Separately, investigators are examining her marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, a British citizen whom they suspect may be her brother, as part of a probe into an alleged fraudulent marriage for immigration purposes.
