(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The Bush family found itself at the center of viral attention this weekend after Barbara Bush, the daughter of former President George W. Bush, donated to a political action committee supporting Texas Senate candidate James Talarico.
Talarico, a Democrat state representative, is running against Republican candidate and state Attorney General Ken Paxton for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by retiring Sen. John Cornyn.
According to Houston Public Media, Federal Election Commission filings show that Barbara donated $2,500 to Lone Star Rising PAC on Sept. 23. The super PAC is among the entities trying to get Talarico elected this November.
On X, critics blasted Barbara’s donation to Talarico, with some expressing disappointment in the Bush family.
“The Bush family never cease to disappoint,” wrote podcast host Katie Miller.
“This is why they are called the BUSH CRIME FAMILY,” Roger Stone wrote.

One X user with nearly 300,000 followers said the donation made him regret voting for George W. Bush.
“I’ve fucked up many times in my life. One of the biggest fuck ups was voting for this guy twice,” he wrote.
Although Barbara lives in New York City, her family has deep ties to Texas. Her paternal grandfather, former President George H.W. Bush, represented Texas’ 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1967 to 1971. Her father served as Texas governor from 1995 to 2000.
Barbara’s donation to Talarico is the latest example of her support for Democratic candidates.
In 2024, she endorsed Kamala Harris for president and went as far as knocking on voters’ doors for her. In 2016, Barbara was spotted at a campaign fundraiser for Hillary Clinton in Paris. Both Harris and Clinton lost their respective races to President Donald Trump.
Barbara currently serves as the NBA’s senior vice president of “social Impact and Inclusion.”
