(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A federal grand jury in Texas returned an indictment against a woman accused of threatening to kill the grieving father of late high school track star Austin Metcalf just three months after the trial of Karmelo Anthony.
The woman, Sharifa Nicole Henderson, was indicted on Sept. 9 on three counts of making interstate threats against Jeff Metcalf, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas Jay R. Combs announced Friday.
Henderson allegedly threatened Metcalf on three separate dates in June 2026.
The federal indictment alleges that Henderson used Facebook Messenger to communicate with a “member of a crime victim’s family” and later threatened to kill the person and place them “in a body bag,” according to CBS News Texas.
She separately phoned Metcalf with similar threats, according to the indictment.

The alleged threats against Metcalf come more than a year after his 17-year-old son, Austin, was killed during a dispute with Anthony at a track meet on April 2, 2025.
The case became a subject of online debate given the race of the two teenagers, as Metcalf was white and Anthony is black.
According to Texas prosecutors, Anthony became enraged after Austin asked him to leave a tent dedicated to Austin’s high school team. Anthony attended Frisco Centennial High School, while Austin attended Frisco Memorial High School.
After a brief dispute, prosecutors said Anthony took a knife from a backpack and fatally stabbed Austin in the chest.
Anthony was subsequently arrested, indicted and convicted of murder. He is currently serving a 35-year prison sentence in Texas.

Federal authorities said Henderson was arrested on Sept. 11 and has since made her initial appearance before a federal judge in Texas. If convicted, Henderson faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison for each count.
The investigation was reportedly conducted in conjunction with the FBI in Dallas, the Collin County Sheriff’s Office and the Collin County District Attorney’s Office.
The FBI’s field office in Kansas City, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri and the U.S. Marshals Service also assisted in the probe, federal prosecutors said.
