Hunter Biden Launches ‘Laptop’ Crypto Coin. It Crashes Within 24 Hours

'Token down 99%. Rug pull. Biden Crime Family...'

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) Disgraced former first son Hunter Biden’s entry into the cryptocurrency market quickly crashed after he announced the so-called $LAPTOP meme coin on Tuesday.

Biden announced the token, a reference to his controversial laptop, in an X post that garnered nearly 5 million views. But despite the attention, the coin fell from $199 to $0.82 at the time of this piece’s publication.

“The symbol they used to try to end me is now a symbol of resilience, redemption, and recovery,” Biden boasted in the X post.

By Wednesday, the outlets that had lauded the launch were reporting the steep decline in the token’s price, forcing Biden to defend the meme coin.

He claimed the meme coin was never supposed to spike to that price, blaming the skyrocketing cost on “technical issues” and so-called predatory “snipers.”

“As you may have seen, the LAPTOP memecoin saw a sharp swing in token price during its first hours of trading,” Biden wrote on X.

“The headlines are all the same. Token down 99%. Rug pull. Biden Crime Family. The list goes on. This is far from the truth,” he continued.

Biden claimed that the “available liquidity could not sustain the strong level of interest at launch.”

His defense earned a Community Note fact-check from X, specifically over his claim that nobody on his “side” sold and that he had not “made a single dollar.”

The fact-check label read that “onchain data shows a project multisig wallet received 100 million tokens (10% of supply) before launch and has since sold approximately 42.5 million of them.”

Biden doubled down on his defense in a Medium post, again blaming “predatory sniper bots,” which he claimed “target cheap tokens in trading pools.”

“LAPTOP was built to say something. We’re here to stay, and we’ll keep saying it,” Biden concluded.

Biden’s memecoin announcement comes as he tries to sanitize his image following years of controversy.

He faced two federal indictments in connection with his alleged failure to pay millions in taxes and falsely stated on a federal form that he was not an unlawful user of or addicted to drugs when purchasing a gun.

Biden’s history of drug abuse and profiting off his father’s political connections have made him a frequent target of scrutiny.

Hunter became the first child of a sitting U.S. president to receive a pardon from his father. The pardon shielded Hunter Biden from federal prosecution for any offenses he may have committed between Jan. 1, 2014, and Dec. 1, 2024.
