(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The Biden administration has unleashed a policy proposal in an apparent bid to protect the career of deep state bureaucrats.
The Office of Personnel Management, the federal body responsible for managing all federal workers, is reportedly considering a rule that would provide most federal employees with an unprecedented right to appeal their ousting.
“The 2.2 million career civil servants active today are the backbone of the Federal workforce,” the filing claimed, according to the Daily Caller. “These employees take an oath to uphold the Constitution and are accountable to agency leaders and managers who, in turn, are accountable to the President. … [M]ere disagreement with leadership—without defiance of lawful orders—does not qualify as misconduct or unacceptable performance.”
The proposal coincides with reports of growing concerns within Biden’s inner circle that a close 2024 presidential election threatens Biden’s presidency.
A recent CNN poll revealed a tight race in a hypothetical rematch between Trump and Biden, leading to what aides have described as “existential stress.”
Jen O’Malley Dillon, Biden’s deputy chief propagandist and 2020 campaign manager, emphasized the stakes. “The president has said publicly himself that democracy is still on the ballot,” she said of the 2024 election. “If you believed that to be true the first time, you have to believe that to be more true the second time.”
In addition to electoral worries, Biden’s camp has blamed the media for reporting on a series of scandals involving the president and his family, including an impeachment inquiry, a Hunter Biden federal indictment and concerns about Biden’s age.
In response, the White House sent a letter to media executives, beseeching them to defend Biden against looming headlines and political challenges. White House Counsel Ian Sams wrote, “It’s time for the media to ramp up its scrutiny of House Republicans for opening an impeachment inquiry based on lies.”
House Democrats are also expressing concerns about the upcoming 2024 election. Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut., admitted, “This election is going to be a fight. No question it’s going to be a fight and we need to be prepared.”
Sen. Jon Tester of Montana echoed Blumenthal’s concerns, adding, “You got to be concerned about those poll numbers, you just do. There’s plenty of time to get them back up. Whether he can or not, I just don’t know, but you got to be concerned.”
