Joe Biden Laughs Off Question About Cooperating w/ House GOP Investigation

'Let’s talk about why I’m here... '

(Headline USAPresident Joe Biden laughed off a question this week about whether he will comply with House Republicans’ requests for his bank records as they investigate his family’s overseas business dealings.

The president was asked about the investigation during a press conference with reporters at FEMA headquarters in Washington after he shared an update about the federal response to Tropical Storm Idalia in Florida.

“Hee-hee-hee,” Biden responded. “Let’s talk about why I’m here.”

Biden declined to answer the same question earlier in the week as he left the White House East Room, according to the New York Post.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., warned last month that Republicans would move to open an impeachment inquiry into the president if he refused to cooperate with their investigation.

“The whole determination here is how the Bidens handle this,” McCarthy explained. “If they provide us the documents, there wouldn’t be a need for an impeachment inquiry. But if they withhold the documents and fight like they have now to not provide to the American public what they deserve to know, we will move forward with impeachment inquiry when we come back into session.”

The House Oversight Committee has requested a wide range of documents stemming from Joe Biden’s vice presidency. Most recently, the committee asked the National Archives and Records Administration to hand over the more than 5,000 emails tied to Biden’s various pseudonyms, including “Robert L. Peters” and “Robin Ware.”

“Joe Biden has stated there was ‘an absolute wall’ between his family’s foreign business schemes and his duties as Vice President, but evidence reveals that access was wide open for his family’s influence peddling,” House Oversight Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., said in a statement. “The National Archives must provide these unredacted records to further our investigation into the Biden family’s corruption.”
