(Headline USA) NBC’s Chuck Todd admitted this week that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott was “right” to start shipping illegal immigrants to blue cities so they could grasp the scope of the border crisis.
In a segment of Meet the Press, Todd referred to New York City’s “growing humanitarian crisis” as a result of mass illegal immigration.
“The shelter system, slammed by an influx of migrants. New calls for federal help. I guess Greg Abbott was right,” Todd told viewers. “He said once he got blue cities to deal with this, that they would be very upset at the federal government.”
Todd pointed out that New York City Mayor Eric Adams is demanding action from the Biden administration, including additional financial aid, and wondered whether Adams would have felt this way if Abbott hadn’t started sending busloads of migrants to the Big Apple.
“The governor of Texas had been complaining about the administration not helping for months, and he said, ‘Well, I’m going to start sending these migrants to blue states, maybe they’ll get some action.’ He’s turned out to be right about this — that he knew that other governors — it didn’t matter Democrat or Republican — would also feel burdened by this. And sure enough, here we are,” Todd said.
This week, Adams predicted the migrant crisis will “decimate” New York City unless the Biden administration steps in to take action. He said the city is “past our breaking point,” and demanded millions of dollars in additional funding.
His comments came just a few days after another Democrat leader, Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey, was forced to declare a state of emergency “due to rapid and unabating increases in the number of families with children and pregnant people — many of them newly arriving migrants and refugees — living within the state but without the means to secure safe shelter in our communities.”
