(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Emerging evidence shows that members of House Democrats’ now-defunct Jan. 6 Committee may have committed felonies by destroying 1.5 trillion bytes of evidence, Red Voice Media reported.
According to Fox News reporter Jesse Watters, former President Donald Trump’s legal team will be able to access all evidence collected by the J6 Committee to present at his defense in his ongoing litigation in the federal case brought by special counsel Jack Smith.
That case—one of several currently being waged by the weaponized Biden Justice Department against the GOP presidential frontrunner—is believed to have relied heavily on the House criminal referral issued by the highly partisan committee, which was hand-picked by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.
But, problematically, the J6 Committee destroyed approximately half of the evidence, meaning that the former president will not be able to access thousands of hours of footage that could exonerate him.
“The Democrat-run Jan. 6 committee is missing one and a half terabytes of data,” Watters said, noting that such a volume likely includes critical records of security failures on Capitol Hill, as well as video depositions from Trump’s Cabinet members.
The missing data will likely include emails and text messages, as well.
Of course, Watters noted, “losing or destroying committee evidence is not common practice.” It is a felony to destroy such documentation, though that has not stopped the J6 Committee from tampering with evidence in the past.
In spite of the legal implications, Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., the former committee chairman, knowingly violated longstanding House rules by not turning over all the committee’s records to the clerk of the House, spurring discussion of a possible censure after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., assumed the gavel.
Tellingly, Thompson also admitted in March that even the committee members themselves never had access to some of the crucial—and potentially exculpatory—video evidence that was kept closely guarded by Pelosi’s goons.
“It’s strictly a new policy that the new speaker has put in place,” Thompson said.
“I’m actually not aware of any member of the committee who had access,” he added. “We had a team of employees who kind of went through the video.”
