(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) In a heated exchange on the leftist talk show The View, Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., forcefully rebuked dubious claims of systemic racism. The senator, known for his staunch conservatism and unwavering support for the success of black Americans, passionately defended the nation and slammed host Sunny Hostin for ludicrously suggesting his accomplishments as a black man were merely the “exception.”
A disturbed Scott responded, denouncing the claims of systemic racism offensive. “One of the reasons why I’m on the show is because of the comments that were made frankly on this show that the only way for a young African American kid to be successful in this country is to be the exception and not the rule,” Scott said.
“That’s a dangerous, offensive, disgusting message to send to our young people today that the only way to succeed is by being the exception.”
Scott continued his smackdown of the leftist host by citing the accomplishments of black Americans in U.S. politics, schooling The View audience in the process.
“The fact of the matter is we’ve had an African American president, African American vice president. We’ve had two African Americans to be secretaries of the state,” Scott said. “In my home city, the police chief is an African American who’s now running for mayor. The head of the highway patrol for South Carolina is an African American.”
Furthermore, the South Carolina senator also disproved claims of racism by comparing the unemployment rates of the 1970s to present day.
“In 1975, there was about 15% unemployment in the African American community. For the first time in the country, it’s under 5%,” Scott concluded, delivering the points right before the show was forced to take a commercial break, leaving the hosts struggling to respond.
Following the interview, conservative personalities erupted in support of Scott, who is running for the GOP nomination for 2024 presidency against former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Conservative commentator Tim Young reacted to the now-viral interview, stating, “Tim Scott owned the racists on The View today with facts. Take note that Joy Behar was given the day off…”
Scott shared the interview with his Twitter followers along with the caption, “Yesterday’s exception is today’s rule. The concept of America is we will become a more perfect union.”
Author Rich Lowry championed Scott for appearing on the leftist show, which has previously accused Scott and other black conservatives of pandering to white supremacists, saying, “This is why you do hostile media—shows strength and confidence and if you knock out of the park, as Tim Scott did, everyone talks about it.”
