Trump Proposes Year-Long Patriotic Celebration of America’s 250th Birthday

'To give America's founding, in 1776, the incredible anniversary it truly deserves...'

(Ezekiel Loseke, Headline USA) Former President Donald Trump has proposed a yearlong festival to honor America and America’s Founders on its 250th birthday.

Trump explained his reasoning for the celebration, reported by Politico.

“In nine years, the United States will celebrate the 250th anniversary of our founding — 250 years since the day we declared our independence,” he said, reflecting on the greatness of America. “As a nation, we should be preparing for the most spectacular birthday party. We want to make it the best of all time.”

Trump labeled his proposed plan as a “Salute to America 250,” and he described the planned event as a “Great American State Fair.”

Trump said that he was attempting “to give America’s founding, in 1776, the incredible anniversary it truly deserves,” and produced a six-step plan for the celebration.

The first step is to convene a task force to plan this event on his first day in office. This task force would coordinate with the states to plan a years’ worth of celebrations, starting on Memorial Day and ending on the 4th of July.

The second step is for Trump to work with all 50 governors and states to plan celebrations across the nation, which he described as a federal partnership of states.

“I will work with all 50 governors, Republican and Democrat alike, to create the Great American State Fair, a unique one-year exhibition featuring pavilions from all 50 states,” he said. “The Great American State Fair will showcase the glory of every state in the Union [and] promote pride in our history.”

Trump gave an example of his plans for the states to display their greatness.

“My hope is that the amazing people of Iowa will work with my administration to open up the legendary Iowa state fairgrounds to host the Great American State Fair and welcome millions and millions of visitors from around the world to the heartland of America for this special one-time festival,” Trump said, showing how Iowa could showcase her exceptional fair to the world.

“Together we will build it, and they will come.”

The third step in Trump’s plan is to produce athletic competitions for high school athletes as a part of the celebration.

“These Patriot Games will allow young Americans from every state to show off the best of American skills, sportsmanship and competitive spirit,” he said.

Fourth, Trump promised to sign an executive order to bring back the national garden of heroes. He said he would commission artists to create the first 100 statues in his proposed memorial.

President Trump began creating the memorial at the end of his term, but Joe Biden stopped the production of the patriotic display, according to another Politico article.

Trump proposed to invite foreign leaders and citizens to celebrate America with Americans, and he promised to ask America’s religious leaders to pray for America and the American People, as they prepare for the celebration.

“[America must] rededicate ourselves as one nation under God,” he explained.

Trump’s plan to celebrate and honor the American founding provides a good continuation of his plan to revitalize America’s understanding of itself, as established in his creation of the 1776 commission.
