(Ezekiel Loseke, Headline USA) Ron DeSantis, Florida’s conservative governor, shattered fundraising records with a speech he gave at a dinner in New Hampshire on Friday.
DeSantis pulled in over a quarter of a million dollars at the dinner.
The chairman of the New Hampshire Republican Party, Chris Ager, said the speech shattered records, according to the New Hampshire Journal
“[It was the] largest fundraiser in the history of the NHGOP, raising more than a quarter of a million dollars,” he said. “Ticket sales were halted earlier this week after we exceeded planned capacity.”
The party’s goal, according to Ager, was to sell 500 $150 tickets, but that goal was met very quickly.
DeSantis also sold out the 100 $500 tickets, according to Ager.
“From the beginning, we had planned for 500,” Ager told the Washington Examiner. “We squeezed into two more tables.”
“It’s been at least 10 years since we’ve had a dinner event that big.”
The speech itself received several standing ovations and an emotional outburst from leftists, according to the New York Post.
“Jews against DeSantis! Jews against DeSantis!” two women yelled.
DeSantis appeared to be amused at the unhinged disturbance.
“You got to have a little spice in the speech right?” he said. “Why would you want to pay for the ticket to get in just to do that?”
“I don’t know, but different strokes for different folks.”
DeSantis is in New Hampshire as part of his cross-country tour promoting his book
The Courage to be Free.
The speech was his first time in New Hampshire, which is the first-in-the-nation voting state.
DeSantis’s fundraising success in New Hampshire is important as his potential rival in the 2024 Republican Primary, President Trump, is currently fundraising very well.
Trump has also hired veteran Republican staffers in New Hampshire, potentially setting up for an important showdown in the state.
