DA Alvin Bragg Plays the Race Card on Soros Ties

'Any criticism of Bragg will be deemed racist, but then there is the other aspect, the accusation that critics (that is, those noting proven facts) of Soros are acting antisemitic... '

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) Flogging what legal analysts have called a disastrous case against Donald Trump, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has resorted to playing the race card, claiming that criticizing his financial ties to George Soros is “racist.”

In the court filing against subpoenas issued by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, Bragg responded to critics who mention his Soros ties, accusing both Jordan and Trump of using a racist “dog whistle.”

“Mr. Trump in particular has threatened New York officials with violent and racist vitriol […] Mr. Trump stated that ‘the thugs and criminals who are corrupting our justice system will be defeated, discredited, and totally disgraced,’” Bragg said in court documents reviewed by Headline USA. “Mr. Trump also called District Attorney Bragg a ‘SOROS BACKED ANIMAL’—a dog whistle Chairman Jordan repeated on television on March 23, 2023, calling District Attorney Bragg ‘the Soros-backed, new DA, left-wing DA Alvin Bragg.’”

“These statements have had a powerful effect,” the filing continued. “District Attorney Bragg has received multiple death threats.”

Bragg, however, did not mention where Jordan called him a racial slur. Instead, the Manhattan DA claimed that Jordan is aping Trump’s alleged racist attacks by calling him “Soros-backed.” Bragg’s claims echo a talking point uttered by mouthpieces in the mainstream media after their attempts to dismiss the Soros-Bragg ties failed.

Leftist talking head Seth Myers and the fake news sites the New York Times and Washington Post followed suit, attempting to label criticism directed at Soros as “racist”, “anti-semitic” and “incendiary” according to reports by the Media Research Center’s NewsBusters.

A growing chorus from realists, however, has pushed back, noting that scapegoating the globalist billionaire’s former religion is true anti-semitism.

“Any criticism of Bragg will be deemed racist, but then there is the other aspect, the accusation that critics (that is, those noting proven facts) of Soros are acting antisemitic,” RedState’s Brad Slager wrote. “How showing the actions of one man is a bigoted slight on an entire class of people is never explained. This is a two-pronged defense maneuver being used, but the press has set itself up for failure.”

Bragg and Jordan have bumped heads in recent weeks as the Soros-backed DA moved forward with what some have called politically motivated charges against Trump.

The Jordan-led Judiciary Committee announced Monday a field hearing with the victims of the Manhattan DA’s policies. The hearing is to be held at the New York City-based Jacob Javits Federal Building, according to the New York Post. The Manhattan D.A.’s office claims that the House Judiciary Committee and GOP members of Congress are overstepping their legal authority. Bragg hired Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, a private law firm, to help with the lawsuit.
