Senate Republicans Aim to Abolish Pentagon’s Taxpayer-Funded Abortions

'The Pentagon should not be mobilized against the unborn. The Department of Defense exists to defend life, not destroy it...'

(Dmytro “Henry” AleksandrovHeadline USA) The Senate’s first female combat veteran and other pro-life Republicans decided to fight against the baby-murdering policies of the Pentagon.

On Wednesday, Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, and 35 pro-life Senate Republicans introduced legislation to halt the Pentagon’s policies. On Feb. 16, the Defense Department announced it would provide three weeks of paid leave and taxpayer-funded reimbursement of travel expenses for military personnel and dependents who live in the blue states and want to murder their babies, according to the Daily Signal.

The Pentagon’s new policies could increase the annual number of abortions from 20 to 4,100 among U.S. servicewomen, a study from Rand Corporation estimated.

Earlier this month, Ernst, a veteran who worked in the military for over 23 years and fought in Iraq, pointed out that Pentagon is not supposed to help its employees to murder unborn babies, when she joined other Republicans on the Senate Armed Services Committee to criticize Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s decision.

“The Pentagon should not be mobilized against the unborn. The Department of Defense exists to defend life, not destroy it,” Ernst said.

“Biden DoD’s policy is not just unlawful, it’s immoral. Congress has been clear: the Hyde Amendment protects taxpayers from being forced to fund abortions. I will continue to ensure the unborn and your tax dollars are protected.”

A January survey that was conducted by the Marist Poll and commissioned by the Knights of Columbus revealed that 54% of Americans oppose taxpayer funding of abortion and, therefore, support the Hyde Amendment that prevents taxpayers from funding abortions.

After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the Defense Department issued a memorandum on Oct. 20, “Ensuring Access to Reproductive Health Care,” and promised to provide easier access to abortion for U.S. military personnel.
