McCarthy Rips Fake News Media in Defense of J6 Video Release

'And so what I wanted to produce for everybody is exactly what I said, people can actually look at it and see what’s gone on that day... '

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., ripped the mainstream media for its condemnation of his release of J6 video footage to Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

Specifically, McCarthy went after CNN’s Manu Raju during a brief Q&A session earlier this week, the Daily Wire reported.

Raju began by asking the House Speaker if he regretted working with Tucker Carlson.

“Because of the footage that you gave Tucker Carlson, last night he went on and said this was a mostly peaceful chaos as he said, he downplayed Brian Sicknick’s death, said it was not related to January 6, that this was not an insurrection,” he said. “Do you regret giving him those [tapes] so he could whitewash the events of that day?”

According to the House Speaker, however, people simply need to see what happened that day to decide whether they find it to be the “domestic extremism” so worked up by the leftist media.

“No. I said at the very beginning, ‘transparency,’” McCarthy said. “And so what I wanted to produce for everybody is exactly what I said, people can actually look at it and see what’s gone on that day.”

But, not to be deterred, Raju persisted in asking McCarthy if he agreed with Carlson’s depiction of the J6 events.

“Each person can come up with their own conclusion,” McCarthy replied, continuing to note that CNN actually exposed the whereabouts of congressman on the day of the supposed domestic terrorism.

“But I just wanted to make sure I had transparency, because I know on CNN, I mean, I had here where you guys actually wrote where we were,” McCarthy said.

“This was a secret location … I don’t know if you got concerned by that, I don’t even know from a point of view of security if we could ever be taken there again. But when you broke that at CNN, that was a real concern to a lot of people.”
