Mich. State Med School Uses ‘Holistic’ Admissions to Push Diversity

"MSUCOM needs to return to recruitment and hiring standards that encourage academic excellence instead of screening for agreement with woke ideology.”

(Joshua Paladino, Headline USA) The Association of American Medical Colleges stated that Michigan State’s College of Human Medicine has a “holistic admissions policy,” a new euphemism that means the college prioritizes women, non-white, and queer applicants, the Washington Examiner reported.

The AAMC conducts a Diversity, Inclusion, Culture, and Equity survey every year, and medical schools can submit answers to have their woke credentials ranked.

MSU’s medical school earned an 81% on the AAMC’s exam, according to information that Do No Harm, a medical watchdog group, got through a Freedom of Information Act request.

“MSUCOM’s self-reported responses on the DICE Inventory show it has instituted the majority of DEI-related policies and strategies pushed by the AAMC,” Do No Harm program manager Laura Morgan told the Washington Examiner.

To earn an 81%, MSU’s medical school had to pursue “substantial DEI efforts” that would ensure a “a diverse class of students.”

Not only has MSUCOM implemented woke admissions policies that prioritize sexual and racial characteristics above intelligence and competence, but the medical school has “undertaken efforts to integrate diversity, inclusion, and equity within the curriculum as a key learning outcome.”

“Michigan taxpayers who help fund MSUCOM deserve to have future doctors who are learning how to take care of their medical problems, and must insist that the school stops its descent into wokeness in order to regain their trust,” Morgan said.

In a current job listing for the Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine, the applicant is asked to provide a statement on diversity, equity, and inclusion that demonstrates “past experiences and contributions to inclusive excellence.”

“The Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine’s public job posting requiring a diversity statement represents an example of how DEI advocates are forcing educators to swear allegiance to their agenda,” Morgan said. “MSUCOM needs to return to recruitment and hiring standards that encourage academic excellence instead of screening for agreement with woke ideology.”
