Rising GOP Star Assassinated Outside N.J. Apartment

'I can't stop crying. She was 30 years young and full of life. You will be missed my dear, precious friend...'

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) A Republican councilwoman in Sayreville, New Jersey, Eunice Dwumfour, was found dead Wednesday in her SUV outside of her home, the Daily Mail reported.

Dwumfor, a rising star in local politics, seemed to have been specifically targeted by the killer, per local police reports.

She was shot several times and proceeded to crash her car soon thereafter. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness told police that the assailant fired a volley of bullets at Dwumfor, then drove off quickly away from the Camelot at La Mer apartment complex.

The Sayreville Police and officials from Middlesex County are investigating the affair. No arrest has been made so far, and no suspects have been detained.

Pastor Nelia Rodriguez, a friend of Dwumfor who worked with her on the local Human Relation Commission, paid tribute on Facebook, saying saying that she had just seen the young mother at the store that morning.

“I remember saying to her I’ll see you at the HRC meeting tomorrow not knowing tonight was going to be the end of her life,” Rodriguez wrote. “I can’t stop crying. She was 30 years young and full of life. You will be missed my dear, precious friend.”

Dwumfor had defeated an incumbent Democrat in a 2021 Sayreville City Council race and was up for re-election campaign in 2024.

“The community is shocked and saddened at the loss of Eunice Dwumfour, who was a dedicated member of our Borough Council who was truly committed to serve all of our residents,” said Sayreville Mayor Victoria Kilpatrick in a statement. “The fact that she was taken from us by a despicable criminal act makes this incident all the more horrifying.”
