(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) Already sinking in the polls in the Connecticut Senate tilt against surging Republican challenger Leora Levy, incumbent Democrat Richard “Da Nang Dick” Blumenthal is now embroiled in a new controversy of his own making.
Blumenthal, who has been roundly condemned for his stolen valor claims, reportedly participated in and promoted a “Slave Day” fundraising event when he was in high school, according to Fox News.
The long-dwelling D.C. swamp Democrat also repeatedly spewed what has long been considered a racist term when he wrote for a student newspaper at Harvard University.
The news became public as a recent poll showed Trump-endorsed Levy cutting into Blumenthal’s once commanding lead, pulling to within 5% of the incumbent.
While serving as president of his high school’s student council, Blumenthal helped promote Riverdale Country School’s inaugural “Slave Day” in 1963 as part of a series of fundraisers meant to help unify the exclusive private school, according to images in a school yearbook obtained by Fox News.
Levy condemned her opponent’s racist history, drawing a contrast to her own past.
“As a Jewish, Hispanic woman growing up in the Jim Crow South, I both witnessed and experienced racism firsthand,” Levy wrote.
“In the 1960s, Americans were fighting to integrate and unify our nation, while Dick celebrated ‘Slave Day?’ Disgraceful.”

Blumenthal continued his pattern of racist behavior in college at Harvard, Fox News reported, when as editor-in-chief of the student newspaper he repeatedly used the term “Negro,” a term that has long been considered a demeaning slur and is currently enough to get anyone other than a leftist Democrat from Connecticut cancelled.
Blumenthal reportedly did not respond to a request for comment from Fox News.
Levy delivered another one of her own.
“I stand with all Americans who have suffered at the hands of bigotry and will always condemn those who fuel hateful sentiments in America,” she wrote.
