Truth Social Barred from Google Play for Not Meeting Censorship Standards

Essentially, Google is saying Truth Social must censor the things that Google deem as 'misinformation'...

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) The popular social media app founded by former President Donald Trump, Truth Social, has been banned because of their lack of censorship from Google’s Play Store.

Apple, on the other hand, had continued to resist calls to make the app unavailable, and now Truth Social is one of the most downloaded apps in the world.

Android phone users who pre-orderd the app are out of luck, as the Big Tech corporation has refused to release the platform for not meeting censorship standards, National File reported.

A Google spokesperson said the company “notified Truth Social of several violations of standard policies in their current app submission and reiterated that having effective systems for moderating user-generated content is a condition of our terms of service for any app to go live on Google Play.”

Essentially, Google is saying Truth Social must censor the things that Google deem as “misinformation.”

The platform, which resembles the early, pre-censorship days of Twitter, has been downloaded by 2 million users on the Apple Store and was also in the top 25 most downloaded in the month of August.

Truth Social has already been criticized for labeling posts for “sensitive material,” though they have not truly censored any material posted.

It is estimated that 44% of US adults use Android phones, which would make the app completely inaccessible to them. This move is reminiscent of the shutdown of another similar app—Parler.

The app, which was also similar to Twitter, was booted off of Apple and Google app stores, as well as being removed from the Amazon servers.

Gab, another pro-free speech app, has been banned by Apple and Google as well. Andrew Torba, founder of the platform, has firmly stood up for his Christian and Pro-American beliefs.

Alongside Big Tech companies, the mainstream media has become fiercely anti-Gab, constantly targeting the platform with hit pieces.
