(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) The Associated Press has made an adjustment in their style guide, the same racist media organ that declared that black must be capitalized, determined that it is OK to refer to “women” when writing about “people who seek abortions.”
According to the Post Millennial, the AP usually holds the position that women should not be referred to as women under other circumstances, as there is the risk of offending men who believe they are women.
The AP did not explain why they made this change in the statement released regarding the issue:
“We now have guidance saying that ‘pregnant women’ or ‘women seeking abortions’ is acceptable phrasing,” it said.
“Phrases like ‘pregnant people’ or ‘people seeking abortions’ are acceptable when you want to be inclusive of people who have those experiences but do not identify as women,” it added.
They do specify that some instances refer to “some transgender men and some nonbinary people.”

The AP also updated their guide in July, offering a “Transgender Coverage Topical Guide” to provide “unbiased language.”
The transgender guide included the statement that “a person’s sex and gender are usually assigned at birth by parents or attendants and can turn out to be inaccurate.”
“Journalists on all beats,” they wrote, “must be able to write about and interview transgender people using accurate, sensitive, unbiased language.”
The language around pregnancy was also adjusted, now including the term “pregnant women” in addition to “pregnant people,” which was originally the only AP-approved term because “the inclusive term ‘pregnant people… takes into account minors, transgender men and nonbinary people.”
The AP Style Guide instructed that journalists should “Aim to use the phrase ‘pregnant women’ only when it’s known everyone the term applies to identifies as a woman.”
