House Passes Contraception Bill, Accused of ‘Weaponizing Hysteria’

"This bill isn’t about codifying a right, but weaponizing hysteria against Clarence Thomas in an attempt to salvage the November election and distract from Democrat failures..."

(Chris ParkerHeadline USA) The House of Representatives rushed the approval of legislation earlier today designed to circumvent the SCOTUS decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, reports The Daily Wire.

The Right to Contraception Act claims to “protect a person’s ability to access contraceptives and to engage in contraception, and to protect a health care provider’s ability to provide contraceptives, contraception, and information related to contraception.”

However, the bill’s provisions are also designed to undermine both states’ rights and religious liberties. It is specifically written to superseded the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993.

Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, slammed the legislation as a “trojan horse” for abortion activists.

“This bill isn’t about codifying a right, but weaponizing hysteria against Clarence Thomas in an attempt to salvage the November election and distract from Democrat failures,” he said. “This rushed legislation would overturn commonsense conscience laws to increase distribution of chemical abortion pills and other abortifacients through vague language and a hurried legislative process.”

Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser accused the bill’s supporters of voting for the bill to support special interest groups. “Nancy Pelosi and pro-abortion Democrats will stop at nothing to ensure the abortion industry led by Planned Parenthood has a steady flow of taxpayer dollars to prop up their brutal business. Abortion is violence and no health care provider should ever be forced to be complicit,” she said, also referring to it as the “Payouts for Planned Parenthood Act.”

Nancy Pelosi slammed Republicans for criticizing the bill without actually addressing the concerns they raised. “I wonder if some of my Republican colleagues understand the basics about birth control, family planning and what is happening in their own homes,” she Tweeted. “They want control — but we won’t give up our rights and we are not going back!”

Biden expressed his strong support for the bill earlier this week. He also condemned the SCOTUS decision overturning Roe v. Wade in the statement.
